Our lone placer was Sunni Latu at the 5th Annual Queen of the Hill tournament in Corona. Sunni placed 5th in one of Southern California’s toughest tournaments. We are very proud of you Sunni as well as Caley Ortiz (1 match away from placing), Jolene Pichay, Katie Cunningham, Julianna Montoya, Tatiana Guevara and Morgan Scott.

ON December 21, we traveled to Covina HS to face off with the Lady Colts for a league dual. We started off the night with a decision victory by Tatiana Guevara and then a great come from behind victory by Katie Cunningham. Then the Lady Colts started making their way back but were held off with the Lady Saints walking out with a 39-36 victory. Right now we are 1-0 in league and 2-0 in duals.

Our lady saints competed in the West Covina Invitational yesterday with hopes of walking out with some hardware. That’s exactly what they did! Leading the night was sophomore Cece Boyd placing 2nd, followed by senior Jolene Pichay and sophomore Sunni Latu both placing 3rd and freshman Kaili Bernardino placing 4th. Out of 34 teams our lady saints placed 4th! Every one of our girls wrestled tough and showed so much improvement, they are getting better and better every day. Next up is the 2nd Annual Lady Panthers Medina Sisters Brawl at Diamond Ranch HS.

Thursday night, District rival Bonita Bearcats made a visit to San Dimas HS in hopes of coming home with the District Championship. Not wanting to relinquish the championship, our lady saints were ready for a battle and looking to make it 2 years in a row. Last year our lady saints walked out of Bonita HS with a 66-12 victory and this year they wanted to put on a show for the home crowd and succeeded with a 72-12 victory! Starting the night off was senior Jolene Pichay who walked on the mat, shook hands, took her opponent down and pinned her. Her performance was outstanding and showed how she will be a force to be reckoned with throughout the season. Following suit was fellow seniors Breanne See and Caroline Camarillo, both pinning their opponents. Breanne started the 1st period taking her time and figuring out her opponent. In the 2nd period Breanne chose top position and it turned out to be the right decision as she flattened her opponent, threw in a half and pinned her opponent. Caroline followed Jolenes’ regimen and secured the match with a pin. Finishing the night was sophomore Sunni Latu and didnt want to feel left out, followed the same regimen as her senior teammates. Sunni has shown great promise in such a short amount of time and she too will be tough for her opponents to beat. Next up, our ladies will travel to West Covina HS!
